HAY MAKING IN FINTRY

Updated: Nov 11, 2020

This week's blog is written by one of our members and volunteers, Alistair.

With the pandemic in full swing and with all the restrictions involved the Fintry Community Garden development, work has slowed to a trickle. However, with the council suspending all public grass cutting and with the now long grass, we had the brainwave to cut out the path network of the proposed garden layout, to give us and everyone a look at what potentially the garden could look like. It also lets us see if the layout is fit for purpose! The days we could cut this week were a little on the wet side but with the newly acquired lawnmower (thankyou to Alex our treasurer, for selecting, ordering and purchasing the mower and Alan local community development worker for sorting out the keys situation!) we soon made a good dent in the cutting and hope to finish next week! Some of the longer thicker sections were a bit hard on the mower but it managed extremely well, in fact, the grass is so long you can’t even see what we’ve cut so far, you need to walk through it to see it! Even then it’s a struggle. With the restrictions now easing the council might resume grass cutting again and then we might get a better view of it, till then we hope to get a drone in to take some aerial photos!!!
